Engagement in Islam
Engagement (mangni) in many cultures marks an agreement to marry—but it is not nikah. Until the contract, boundaries of modesty still apply.
Keep engagement intentional
Use the period to plan nikah, finish family questions, and prepare documents—not to imitate married life. If major red flags appear, it is kinder to end an engagement than to force a harmful nikah.
Agree an approximate nikah timeline so engagement does not become an endless talking stage.
